Summary
Vegvisir Systems and IP Infusion have built and tested an SR-TE solution using Traffic Dictator as SR-TE controller and IP Infusion OcNOS routers.
Disaggregated Networking and IP Infusion
Disaggregated Networking is a concept whereby network hardware is separated from software, so that the network operator can choose hardware and software vendors separately. This provides more flexibility to the operator, reduces costs, prevents vendor lock-in and reduces the risk of supply chain disruption.
IP Infusion is a market leader of disaggregated networking solutions. OcNOS, their network OS, supports a wide list of networking hardware from UfiSpace, Edgecore, Dell and others, and allows network operators to build flexible and cost efficient solutions for Telecommunications and Data Center networking. SR-TE solution with TD and OcNOS
The solution is based on open-standard protocols such as BGP-LS and PCEP and provides all typical SR-TE features such as:
- CSPF based on affinity or explicit path – with most optimal segment lists in the industry
- Path diversity
- ECMP and anycast SID support in SR-TE policies
- Egress Peer Engineering
The solution is fully functional and provides a viable alternative to Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Huawei and other large vendor solutions; at a much lower cost and with more flexibility.

Deploying TD on an OcNOS router
In small-scale setups, there is no need for a separate server or VM to run Traffic Dictator – instead, you can deploy TD in a docker container on a router running OcNOS. This article explains step-by-step process.
